Since X-ray was first found in 1895, radiology has evolved rapidly and turned into an exciting field of medicine with a rapid advancement in its sciences, therefore dynamic scientific programs and research presentations has been prepared to put us in the foremost knowlege. We invite radiologists from all ASEAN countries to engage in the latest teaching, research and further education in various subspecialty areas to improve your skills, share your experiences and develop your knowledge further. It is a great pleasure and an honor to extend to you a warm welcome to the 18th Congress of the ASEAN Association of Radiology (AAR 2017) to be held in Kuala Lumpur during 28th - 30th September 2017, under the theme “Across Borders, Envisioning The Future”.
The organising committee has incorporated RSNA/AOSR International Visiting Professor programme and AOSOR special session which will give the participants not only the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences among members in the region but also with the expert from other parts of the world.
The first AAR Congress has been held in Kuala Lumpur October 1980. It has been 36 years since then that this biennial meeting has been going on and getting stronger with continuous support from all country members.
I would like to thank the organising committee for their great preparation and wish this 18th Congress of the ASEAN Association of Radiology (AAR 2017) a successful and memorable one.
In January 1980, an inaugural meeting of the ASEAN radiologists took place in Manila, Philippines. Various representatives of the ASEAN countries agreed to form an ASEAN Association of Radiologists (AAR). The first President of the AAR was Dr GaniIylas from Indonesia and the Secretary was Dr H K Boey from Singapore. The AAR biennial meeting is held in ASEAN countries on a rotational basis.
